Blackfish Film Screening

Eye opening documentary Blackfish will be screening at Whistler Millennium Place on Wednesday, February 26. This documentary follows the dark side to keeping large-scale aquarium fish in captivity. Hear first-hand accounts from former trainers at Sea World and decide for yourself if this multi-million dollar industry should be able to continue business as usual.

Blackfish unravels the complexities of orcas, the whale species known as killer whales. The friendly giants in captivity are known to turn on their human trainers. Tilikum, who unlike any orca in the wild, has taken the lives of several people while in captivity. What exactly went wrong? Shocking, never-before-seen footage and riveting interviews with trainers and experts manifest the orca's extraordinary nature, the species' cruel treatment in captivity over the last four decades, and the growing disillusionment of workers who were misled and endangered by the highly profitable sea-park industry.

Tickets for the movie are $8 and can be purchased at Millennium place the day of the screening. The screening begins at 7 PM.
