Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in Whistler
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will
be playing series of FREE shows this week in Whistler. The
shows will take place all over Whistler Village including Whistler
Olympic Plaza, Mountain Square and Town Plaza. Read up on the
performances planned for the week below.
Tuesday, July 16 & Wednesday, July 17
String Quartet & Brass Quintet
Two components of the VSO the string quartet and brass quintet will be performing 6 FREE shows over two days. The performances will take place at either Town Plaza or Mountain Square. For People unfamiliar with the locations, Town Plaza is located adjacent to the Whistler Library, directly outside of the Gap and Caramba Restaurant. Mountain Square is located relatively close to Skiers Plaza (Base of Whistler Mountain) directly outside of Lululemon and Showcase Snowboards.

Friday, July 19 & Saturday, July 20 | Masterworks - Conducted by Sean Newhouse
The Friday and Saturday night performances will include the entire VSO production and will move locations to the Whistler Olympic Plaza. Both of the shows will focus on classical music masterpieces from composers Pablo de Sarasate, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Dvorak. The performances will be conducted by Sean Newhouse and will begin at 8 PM on both nights.
Sunday, July 21 | Beethoven Lives Upstairs - Children's Performance
The VSO will host a special children-friendly performance on Sunday called Beethoven Lives Upstairs. The show focuses on Beethoven's life growing up and his evolvement into one of the greatest composers to ever live. The show will be acted out by stage performers to the soundtrack of Beethoven's greatest works. Beethoven Lives Upstairs will take place at Whistler Olympic Plaza at 2 PM on Sunday, July 21.
