Whistler Alpine is Calling — Rise Above, the Snow is Great!

Whistler Alpine On Family Day

B.C. Family Day Did Not Disappoint

Whistler Blackcomb was the scene for lots of happy campers this February 9th, as the third annual Family Day arrived along with a very snowy Alpine on Whistler Blackcomb. Many people commented about how good snow conditions are this year, especially in the Alpine.

With over 2,200 vertical feet and over 6,400 acres of skiable terrain, there is a lot to choose from on both mountains. This season has not been remarkable for snow so far anywhere in western North America, but with 2,200 vertical feet, Whistler Blackcomb is taking this chance to remind us all that the "Alpine is calling" and that they've got pretty darn good conditions - surprisingly good.

The base so far this year is 156 cm and growing, definitely a solid base with enough accumulation to warrant getting up and shredding this year. The weekend looks set to be a sunny one, too, with flurries happening right now, leaving Saturday and Sunday to the sun. Ten more centimetres of snow are expected to fall on Tuesday, increasing the base a bit more.

Whistler Best Ceasar

Apres at the GLC  is Legendary

In this video of the day from Whistler Blackcomb, GLC bartender shares the secret to a perfect caesar - bacon! As one commenter noted "It's like a meal in a glass!" Fair enough.

But GLC apres is legendary, and a good caesar is easily a part of that. Hanging out at the GLC after a great day in the Whistler Blackcomb alpine on Sunday afternoon, sipping a caesar and waiting for the Fire and Ice show to begin at 6:30 PM ...now that is what we call a perfect weekend day.

What about you? What is your favourite way to spend a lazy (or not so lazy) Sunday afternoon in Whistler?
