Whistler Weather Forecast: Spring Has Sprung!

The signs are everywhere: From rumours that the Whistler Bike Park will open early, to the birds chirping and sun shining. Spring is in the air and the Whistler weather forecast couldn't be better.

Spring Time in Whistler - Gondola

Spring in Whistler is a time of transitions. Brian Finestone is busy getting the Whistler Bike Park ready for mountain bikes while ski and snowboarders are still trying to get their last runs in. Though the season hasn't had as much powder as previous years, there's still enough to keep upcoming competitions happening. The GoPro IFSA Junior Freeski Competition, for example, while regularly scheduled to take place on Blackcomb, has been relocated to Whistler. But the show must go on.

Some optimistic amateur weather forecasters have attempted to predict that the Whistler Bike Park will open in time for the World Ski and Snowboard Festival. And though that is not likely to happen, it is very possible that the park will open earlier than its scheduled May 15th start.

TEDActive Truth and Dare: March 16 - 20

This event promises to the most provocative TED event yet. Speakers, presentations, demos and exhibitions which will challenge you about what you believe is the truth. And then TED will introduce you to some individuals and ideas that dare to change that. Though the event is sold out, we 're sure that the vibe in the village this week will be electrifying.

IFSA Junior National Freeski Competition: March 19 - 22

Though the venue has changed from Blackcomb to Whistler, the show must go on. These are the top-ranked junior freeride skiers in Canada. Watch as they compete for a chance at the North American finals in Grand Targhee, Wyoming. Some in the 15 - 18 category youth will continue on to the Swatch World Tour next winter.

World Ski and Snowboard Festival: April 10 - 19

The Whistler Bike Park may not be open in time for this event, but the 19th annual World Ski and Snowboard Festival has enough going on already. Culture, competitions and cameras with non-stop concerts and all day and night long festivities. You can sleep in May.
