Tough Mudder Preview
The popular endurance event series Tough Mudder returns to Whistler this June 20 & 21, 2015. Two runnings of the event will take place over the weekend to accommodate people driving up Saturday and Sunday. Initially designed to test participant's mental and physical strength, the race centers around the concept of teamwork, requiring team members and other athletes to help each other along the way to complete obstacles.
During the event, participants must complete a 15 KM track, besieged with a series of obstacles. The obstacles are really what gives Tough Mudder its cache. Obstacles can include Walk the Plank, participants must jump from a high platform into icy cold water, Berlin Walls, climbing over a 10-foot high wooden plank wall or the always popular Electric Shock Therapy, running through a field of low shock electrical wires.
Olympic Park - Venue
Tough Mudder Whistler is currently returning for its 4th year and serves as the only event held in BC. As always Whistler Olympic Park will serve as the venue for Tough Mudder. The Park is located in the Callaghan Valley, about a 20-minute drive outside of Whistler.
Once Athletes have completed the event they are greeted at the finish line with a finisher T-shirt and headband. There is also a Tough Mudder after party complete with a live DJ and complimentary alcoholic beverage - non-alcoholic beverages will also be provided.
Tickets for this year's event start at $209 for basic entry or $279 for VIP entry. Guests wishing to tag along for the fun without racing can also purchase a spectator ticket for $20 online or $40 at the event. The ticket grants you entrance to watch the race and stick around for the after-party later.
