Whistler Beer Festival

Whistler celebrates the best in craft breweries during the Whistler Beer Festival. The event runs from September 16 - 20 and features 80 breweries, 6000+ guests and 14 beer related events.

The 14 events including everything from beer seminars to beer pairing dinners to beer Q & A's and, of course, the main event is the beer tasting at Whistler Olympic Park.

Guest can catch the main event on Saturday or Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM. Tickets for the event cost $45 for the gate crasher (allows you to get in at 12 PM) or $35 for general admission (allows you to get in at 1 PM). During the main event, patrons are released into the gated in Whistler Olympic Plaza grounds like children on Christmas Day. Once you have entered the hallowed grounds participants can wander around and visit anyone of the 80 breweries tents in attendance. Most breweries will have 1 to 3 brews on tap which you can sample.

Along with entry your ticket to the main event gets you an event guide, sampling mug, 5 x 4oz beer tickets and 10% off food at partnered bars. The most important thing to take away from that is you get 5 beer samples with your ticket. Of course for those really thirsty patrons additional tickets can be purchased for $1.50 each. The ticket process is very simple 1 ticket gets you one 4oz sample of any beer in the festival.

Beer Fest 2

What makes checking out a Beer Festival such cool event is the sheer number of new craft beers you can try for so cheap. For only $1.50 you can sample a beer from a company or new draft of beer you've never heard of. Of course it's really enjoyable to sample a few of your old favorites, but exploring new companies and chatting with the brewers or reps makes for a very enjoyable experience - the alcohol helps with that experience.

While the beer gardens get all the attention the Whistler Beer Festival offers a number of other cool events during the festival. Nightly dinners, seminars and Q & A's highlight a week of beercology. While we won't get into every event, here's a quick write-up on 3 very cool events outside of the traditional beer garden. To check out a day by day schedule of the festival check out the Whistler Village Beer Festival website.
