Get Ready for GO Fest
It's almost here. Victoria long weekend, May 20th to 23rd, get ready to bring in the summer vibe in Whistler.
For the third year in a row, the Resort Municipality of Whistler brings you a reason to get outdoors and celebrate all that is the transition to summer season here. The Great Outdoors (GO) Festival is coming soon.
Tree Top Adventure, Anyone?
Yoga, hiking, biking, running races, canoeing, tennis, tree-top adventure races and so much more will captivate you and keep you active all weekend long.
This festival is all about having fun. Yes, if you're a real type-A there's competition. Of course there is. It's Whistler after all. But there's also great chances to learn something new - fly fishing anyone? or chill out with a glass of wine as you "Wine about Art" :)
Inclusive Outdoor Fun
It's grown substantially from its inaugural year, to the point where this, the third year, is jam-packed with things to do. Literally, something for everyone. Such a cliche, but in the case of the GO Fest really true. The idea is to be inclusive and offer something for everyone to get outdoors and enjoy themselves.
Winter is over, and it's time to move around in the sunshine. Whether you'd like a sailing clinic, to listen to one of the many free concerts (new this year!) or take in a trail running tips and techniques workshop, you're all set.
In fact, just reading through the schedule is difficult to do without getting kinda excited for all that is offered.
Teach an Old Dog New Tricks
You can even teach your old dog new tricks this year :) Check out the Sunday, May 22nd series of classes for Alpine Dogs. Honestly, there is something for everyone this year.
And ping pong? You thought there'd be no ping pong, didn't you? Well, you're wrong. If your idea of a Whistler outdoor adventure includes ping pong, they've got you covered this year.
Crud to Mud is part of the fun this year, along with lots more competitive but fun events to help get you in shape for a summer of competition in Whistler. There's the Whistler Cycling Club bike workshop on Saturday, May 21st to help you get ready for either the Subaru Ironman Triathalon or the RBC GranFondo.
Basecamp
And, to help you find your way, the GO Fest will have a BaseCamp in Mountain Square with everything you need: information about all events, a film series, volleyball tournament, digital photography clinic, and art experiences will all be available to you.
We hope you'll be able to join us for the fun this year. If you haven't already, get in touch with us to book your stay at Our Whistler Retreat, and we look forward to seeing you this summer!
