5 Things You Should Know About Whistler GO Fest
The Whistler GO Fest is set to take place this Long Weekend, May 19th to 22nd.
The Whistler GO Festival is a great reason to schedule one last ski vacation before Blackcomb Mountain closes at the end of May.
Get in a few more turns on the slopes with the sun in your face and experience all the other amazing outdoor activities Whistler has to offer. May is a magical time when seasons collide and you can ski and mountain bike in the same day. GO Fest is here to highlight all the outdoor sports and activities Whistler has to offer!
5 Things You Should Know About GO Fest 2017
1. The "GO" in GO Fest is built from the acronym "Great Outdoors". What better time to embrace the first long weekend of the summer season than by getting outside and playing in the great outdoors?
2. The Whistler Farmer's Market makes their first
appearance of the 2017 season for one day only, Sunday, May 21 from
11 a.m. -4 p.m., before heading back to the fields to grow more
goodies in time for the official launch on June 18, 2017.
3. The Whistler Museum is celebrating Whistler
Mountain Bike Heritage Week during GO Fest Tuesday, May 16 to
Sunday, May 21. Mountain biking has been part of Whistler's vibrant
and progressive sport scene for over three decades. The community's
influence on the sport is undeniable on all fronts from trail
building and advances in bike technology, not to mention the
legions of locals who are pioneers of the downhill, slopestyle and
Enduro disciplines.
4. The GoPro GO Show pits six of Whistler's most
intrepid athletes against each other to produce a short film that
capture the essence of May in Whistler. With $2000 on the line and
the world's most versatile camera attached to their bodies, these
athletes will showcase adventure in all of spring's mediums; snow,
dirt and water.
5. Ultra-marathon runner Iain MacNairn, who is
presenting Trail Serendipity on Saturday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. in
The North Face Whistler store, has run over 40 ultra marathons in
the seven years since participating in his first ultra. An ultra
marathon is defined as any race longer than the standard marathon
distance of 42.2 km (26.2 miles) and Iain's preferred ultras
consist of over 100km and travel over mountain passes. He's sure to
love Whistler's terrain!
