WSSF Comes to Whistler this April 10th - 15th, 2018
The 2018 World Ski and Snowboard Festival is already shaping up to be one for the record books. There's speed and style competitions, concerts, parties, and more scheduled all into 5 days this year! You can expect the usual events plus the return of the Saudan Couloir Ski Race Extreme and the World Championships of the Monster Energy Boarderstyle Tour.
WSSF is set to go from April 10th - 15th with much more information to be announced between now and then, so stay tuned! Take a look at some of the events scheduled so far below.
WSSF Music Events
WSSF Music Series
Music is always a huge part of WSSF and 2018 will be no exception! You can stay dancing all day and night during the festival, going from après to concerts to after parties, it's basically a non stop dance party. Make sure to stay tuned to who's coming to rock the village this year at WSSF because the line up announced soon!
Freeride Club Series
Keep the party going every night with the Kokanee Freeride Club Series. Select nightclubs throughout Whistler will be showcasing your favourite artists.
Parties & Nightlife
WSSF is a celebration of everything that makes Whistler great, only amplified. There's almost an endless amount of après, nightlife, and parties happening during the festival. Do you have what it takes to make it all festival riding the sweet spot where sport, arts, music and partying collide? We hope so because you aren't gonna want to miss a minute of WSSF this year!
Mountain Magic Presents The End
This is the finale party that'll take your WSSF experience to its pinnacle. Dance until the early morning with an all-star roster of DJs and incredible light and laser show. Celebrate the end of WSSF with bang at this 19+ event!
WSSF Sports Events
Big Air
The World Ski and Snowboard Festival's signature event, the Big Air, carries on Whistler's tradition of hosting the world's best big air competitions. The Big Air event typically attracts 18,000+ spectators out to watch some of the best riders in the world.
Monster Energy World Championships
WSSF is the final stop of the 8th Annual Monster Energy Boarderstyle this year. This one-of-a-kind snowboard contest includes four stops throughout BC before wrapping up at WSSF with a grand prize of $50,000!
Saudan Couloir Ski Race Extreme
The world's steepest ski race, the Saudan Couloir Ski Race Extreme, has finally made it's return to Whistler after 20 years. This festival highlight is sure to bring out; ski racing legends, mountain pros, and amatuer skiers ready to test their luck.
Twisted Tea Slush Cup
Does dressing up in a ridiculous costume and sending it across a cold icey pit sound like fun to you? Then you’ll want to check out the fan favourite Twisted Tea Slush Cup. Watch or join in on the competition where riders try to cross the slushy abyss with style as they go for prizes like Best Costume, Best Trick, Best Wipe-Out, and more.
Demo Park
Worried about spending a lot of money of equipment you might not like? Test out the latest skis and snowboards for free at the WSSF Demo Park and ease your decision process with a few test runs.
WSSF Arts Events
Olympus Pro Photographer Showdown
The OLYMPUS Pro Photographer Showdown has some of the top action sport and lifestyle photographers battle it out for the title of Best of Show.
Intersection
Crews are pushed to their limits as they work to shoot, produce and edit a 5 to 7 minute ski and/or snowboard film in only 7 days. Intersection always captures the best parts of Whistler, with all footage required to come from within 100km of Whistler it showcases just how beautiful this place is.
72 Hour Filmmaker Showdown
Filmmakers are tasked with shooting, editing, and producing and short film all within 72 hours. This highly creative event brings out the best in competitors and always results in some amazing 3 - 5 minute short films, shot completely in a 100km radius of Whistler.Once done, filmmakers will show their creations on the big screen for more than 1500 people to watch and an expert panel of judges to vote on Best of Show.
2nd Cuts Filmmaker Screening
Missed the first viewing? Check out the 2nd Cuts Filmmaker Screening of all of the completed films of 2018. Open to all ages this is the perfect chance to catch up on some great filmography. The 2018 winner and finalists will be shown near the end of the screening.
Multiplicity
This festival favourite captures the rich tradition of storytelling and complements it with photographs and visuals for full immersion. Think, TED Talk on adrenaline with stories from adventurers, explorers, athletes, and passionate personalities from around the world.
Art & Souls
Check out this incredible event where artist from around the world showcase their artwork to people from far and wide. Art & Soul, formerly known as State of the Art, celebrates subcultures and anti-movements through bold and inspiring artistic styles.
